Restoring Your Dell Computer: Not That Difficult a Task
As high-end customers this particular
piece of information may come up as a surprise to
most of us, but this is what the fact is - the first
of its kind, most of the Dell computers come with
an insurance policy. It is within the hard disk of
the machine, where there's an alienated partition
containing all such files in a compressed state (in
the absence of which, you'll be provided with a CD
of the files), that are originally packaged with the
computer. It is the "PC Restore" functionality that
provides allows you to restore the factory settings
of the machine, should it reach a state where the
computer fails to respond or function properly.
Tips to Restoring Your Dell
PC
1. Take a backup of all important
files and folders or any such data which is too precious
for you to lose.
2. Try and locate your recovery
media. Go through the user manual or the support pages
and dig out info as to what kind of restore function
your computer has. Some PCs come with a recovery disk
and some others use a program called Norton Ghost;
while the general practice is to use the hidden files
in a separate hard disk partition.
3. Next, run the CD or the recovery
software for your Dell PC. After booting, choose "restore
to factory defaults" rather than repairing the current
installation.
4. After OS installation, install
all necessary drivers to run the system components
smoothly.
5. Finally, reinstall all software
applications, like Word Processors and email applications.
